In another context Tarrou notes that, on coming home in the evenings, he invariably saw the night watchman pacing the hall, like a sentry ________(在他的巡逻区域).

In the first case, habits have not yet been lost; in the second, they’re returning. It is ________(在最活跃或最激烈的部分) a calamity that one ________(对现实习以为常)—in other words, to silence. So let’s wait.
